Founded in 1904, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the global professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification (ACCA or FCCA). From June 2016, ACCA recorded that it has 188,000 members and 480,000 students in 178 countries. ACCA's headquarters are in London with principal administrative office in Glasgow. ACCA works through a network of 100 offices and centres and more than 7,100 Approved Employers worldwide, who provide employee development.
The National Commission for Further and Higher Education (NCFHE) deems this Professional Programme (Equivalent to a Masters Programme) to be at Level 7 in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.
Learners should have a background in Accounts/Business Studies and be fluent in written and spoken English.
Candidates need to successfully complete a series of work-based assignments or examinations.
Noel has several years of experience in the financial services industry which were endorsed by a strong academic background in banking and finance, and portfolio management theory. Mr Cassar’s started his career at Bank of Valletta where he spent eight years, of which in the last three years he was engaged as a Research Analyst within the Financial Markets and Investments division. In 2014, he successfully joined the Central Bank of Malta in the role of Credit Risk Analyst at Financial Risk Management Office, where he was analyzing foreign issuers of bonds by using fundamental analysis principles and studying the market environment. In March 2017, he has been engaged as Portfolio Manager and Office Manager of a new start-up MiFID investment company in Malta, called Gala Investments Ltd. He does part of its Investment Committee and also a member of its Advisory team. He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta.
Mr Cassar graduated in Banking and Finance Hons. Degree, and then he furthered his studies where he obtained an MSc in Banking and Finance by the University of Malta. Also, he accomplished the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme where he becomes a CFA charterholder.
Maria Giulia Pace
Alexia holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounts and Banking), Bachelor of Accountancy Honours degree and a Masters in Financial Services from the University of Malta. She is a Certified Public Accountant, holds a Practising Certificate in Auditing and is also a Member of the Malta Institute of Accountants.
Alexia has 8 years post qualification experience, including 3 years working within the Audit function of a Big-4 accounting firm and 4 years working as an analyst at MFSA. Alexia is presently working as a management accountant with a software company. She has also read for an International Certificate in Risk Management and a National Diploma in Teaching Adults.
Maryna has eight years’ experience in audit and joined EY Malta in January 2012. She is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants since June 2012 and has Master’s degree (Honor) in international economics. Maryna focuses on ISA and PCAOB audits of foreign and local clients in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP standards. Maryna has been facilitating and managing audits of consolidated and standalone accounts and assisting related assurance procedures for companies operating in energy & resources, IT development, insurance, transportation, leisure and hospitality.
Olga has nine years’ experience in audit and joined EY Malta in January 2012 while previously was employed with Deloitte CIS. She is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants since February 2013 and has Master’s degree (Honor) in international economics. Olga focuses on ISA and PCAOB audits of foreign and local clients in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP standards. Olga has been facilitating and managing audits of consolidated and standalone accounts and assisting related assurance procedures for companies operating in energy & resources, transportation, telecommunication and media, production of industrial products industries.
Irina is an audit manager in the Assurance department focusing on financial services mainly asset management. She has joined Ernst & Young Malta in 2011. Irina is a Member of Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA). Irina possesses a Bachelor of Finance (Banks and Stock Exchanges) degree from the University of Moldova.
Irina's professional experience has been gained through working on clients in Eastern European Countries; Europe and UK.
Irina was leading engagements performed under IFRS, US GAAP, UK GAAP, French GAAP, Russian GAAP and Romania GAAP. Irina is experienced in managing a portfolio of clients operating in various business sectors
Ilona graduated as a lawyer from the University of Malta in 2012. Thereafter, she pursued her Master of Laws with specialisation in Banking and Finance with the University of London, Queen Mary and obtained her LL.M in 2013. In 2013, she enrolled with the University of Birmingham whereby she is currently reading for a PhD (Law) and will submit her thesis in September 2017. She has worked in private practice at the Courts of Malta for two years after graduation. She is currently employed at the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) whereby she mainly focuses on market abuse, but is also currently working on other legislations that need to come into force in Malta.
Robert is a Tax Partner at EY and has worked in tax for almost 20 years . He served as BPP lecturer for around 8 years (F6) and ACCA Examiner for 3 years. He is a tenured Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta teaching tax law both at FEMA and the Faculty of Laws. Robert has published extensively on tax law.
